The story behind our caravan concept

Who is behind this?

We are a small craft business that started in mid-2019 with the construction and development of a small but fully-fledged caravan. After market analyses, technical and economic preliminary development and the elaboration of a business plan at the end of 2019, the financing was in place and the production facility in Hausen ad Zaber was set up at the beginning of March 2020. This is where the first samples and prototypes were finally built for test purposes. We, that is a graduate geographer and a graduate engineer. for aerospace engineering. After almost 25 years of working in the industry, we decided to go self-employed and use our skills and abilities for something that we really "burn" for.

How we got it

We love old cars and we are particularly attached to an old treasure: a VW Beetle with a folding sunroof from 1962 has been with us since we were students - it has never let us down and has already taken us to a number of holiday destinations. Hence the desire to find a suitable small caravan - light enough for our 34 hp towing vehicle, but with the necessary space and comfort for two not exactly small people. The search was difficult until a suitable model finally appeared in the classifieds at the end of 2018: a small, light caravan from 1970, designed in the 1960s by a manufacturer that has long since disappeared from the market. Unfortunately, the supposed bargain from the Netherlands was in a catastrophic condition on closer inspection - well-disguised water damage had attacked practically all the essential parts, so that in the end only the complete restoration remained. The basket, windows and GRP roof were retained, everything else had to be rebuilt. Only patience and many years of experience in the restoration of vehicles and furniture helped here, otherwise the sad remains of the caravan would probably have ended up on the scrap yard in the meantime...
